Meta’s Enterprise Platform signals a bigger push into business AI

The announcement defines a business direction. Buyers still need product-specific terms, controls and an evaluation of their own workflow.

Meta announced Meta Enterprise Platform on September 28, 2026, describing a new business effort to turn its AI stack into products and services for companies and developers. The announcement names Muse, Meta Business Agent, Muse API and Muse Code among its initial areas of focus.

The strategic move is significant, but a platform announcement is not the same as a detailed service contract or an assurance that every listed capability is generally available. Canadian organizations should separate the direction of the business from the exact product they could purchase or test.

What the announcement establishes

Meta said Chirantan “CJ” Desai would lead the effort as Chief Enterprise Platform Officer, reporting to Mark Zuckerberg. The company connects the platform with its models, agents, infrastructure and existing business relationships. Statements about security and privacy are company commitments that buyers should examine in product-specific documentation.

An enterprise evaluation needs to identify the actual task, the data used and the action the system can perform. “Business AI” can mean a customer-facing assistant, a development tool or an internal workflow agent. Those uses require different evidence, permissions and acceptance criteria.

Existing reach does not settle a new workflow’s quality

A provider’s scale can support distribution, but it does not establish that an agent handles a particular business exception correctly. Test missing information, conflicting instructions and requests that cross an access boundary. Include cases where the appropriate result is to stop or ask a person.

For a customer workflow, inspect whether the system preserves product facts, prices and commitments. For an internal agent, check the resulting records and whether an action is reversible. The evaluation should reward accurate completed work rather than the number of systems connected.

Procurement questions for Canadian businesses

Ask about availability, service regions, data retention, training use, administrator controls and the ability to export work. Verify the commercial terms for the exact product rather than carry assumptions from a consumer social-media account into an enterprise deployment.

The next useful evidence will be concrete product documentation and measured customer results with a defined baseline. Meta’s announcement expands the competitive landscape for business AI. A focused pilot will show whether that new option solves an organization’s problem with acceptable review and operating costs.
