Privacy at AI Speed Canada
You can run a speed test without an account. This policy explains what the website and installable web app actually do with connection data. It also applies when you open the web app from your home screen.
Who operates this service
AI Speed Canada is operated in Ontario by A.Ash, the name supplied for public identification. For privacy questions, access or correction requests, and complaints, email info@aispeed.ca. A.Ash is a public-facing name, not a verified full legal name or registered business designation. Hosting and third-party retention details remain subject to confirmation; this policy does not claim otherwise.
Data used to deliver the site and speed test
When you visit, hosting infrastructure receives ordinary requests, which may include your public IP address, request time, browser information and requested URL. The homepage asks our own server for the public IP seen by the site. Starting a speed test transfers temporary test data between your browser and our hosting endpoint; download, upload, latency and jitter reflect that path, device and moment. The test can use significant data on fast connections. The result and quality score are calculated for display in your browser; your most recent result is stored in browser session storage for guide recommendations and normally clears when the browser session ends. We do not create an account or save individual test results in an application database.
The hosting provider may process request logs to operate and protect the service. We cannot accurately state a log retention period until the operator verifies the hosting configuration and provider terms. We do not claim that internet traffic or provider logs stay entirely in Canada.
Optional IP location and third parties
If you select Show network details, our server sends your public IP to FreeIPAPI to estimate city, province, postal area, coordinates and network organization. When an IPinfo Lite token is configured, our server also requests country and network organization details from IPinfo. If the first location lookup fails, our server may ask IPWhois. If server lookup still lacks useful location details, your browser may query IPWhois directly after your request. Those services receive the IP and ordinary network request data and apply their own policies. Approximate map coordinates do not identify your device or home.
If coordinates are returned, the map embeds OpenStreetMap. Loading that map sends an ordinary browser request, including your IP, to its service. You may use the speed test without requesting network details or loading a location map. Visiting a linked news publisher likewise sends a browser request to that publisher; our news feed lists source links and does not create reader profiles.
Ask AI Speed chat
Common guide questions receive an answer from a reviewed knowledge library on your device. If you ask for fresh source news or an unfamiliar topic while online, our server may receive your question and latest measured download result to look up relevant site content. If an OpenAI API key is configured, the server may also send the question, measured download and relevant site context to OpenAI for a response; it is not currently configured. Do not submit passwords, exact addresses or other sensitive personal information. AI Speed does not keep a user chat-history database; messages stay in your open page session, although hosting or provider request logs may have separate retention.
Optional Helpful and Not helpful ratings are stored as bounded topic scores in your own browser’s local storage. They adjust which reviewed answer appears first on that device; we do not transmit the ratings, store the text of questions for learning, retrain a public model, or automatically turn chat text into published facts. Use the storage-clear control to remove the ratings. Offline mode uses locally available guidance and cannot fetch live headlines, perform an IP lookup or measure a network connection.
Cookies and device storage
The app stores a privacy notice dismissal in local storage and your last test result in session storage. Its service worker caches the generic homepage shell, immutable app files and an offline help page so common guide questions can work after installation. It does not cache speed tests, IP lookups, maps, news responses or personal results. We do not currently load optional advertising or analytics scripts, and our app does not set advertising cookies. Your browser, host or embedded map service may use separate technical storage under their own policies. See Cookies & storage for the exact app keys and a control to clear them. If we add ads, analytics or other optional tracking, we must update this policy and deploy suitable controls before enabling them.
Use, disclosure and protection
We use request data to serve pages, measure a test you initiate, provide a lookup you request and protect the service. The quality score runs on your device; it is not a trained AI inference or a decision about your eligibility for any service. We do not sell your individual test results. Access to infrastructure and any logs should be limited to people who need it for operations; the operator must verify actual access controls, processor agreements, retention and incident procedures before making stronger assurances.
Your choices and requests
You can avoid optional network lookup, clear device storage, disable storage in your browser, and stop a test. Email info@aispeed.ca to request access, correction or information about personal data the operator controls, or to raise a complaint. Data held by external providers is governed by their own processes. If a reportable privacy breach occurs, the operator must assess and respond under applicable law.
Changes
We will date material changes and update this page before introducing new tracking or a new use of personal data. Applicable rights may vary by province and the circumstances of processing. Review the terms of use and storage details alongside this page.
